About Us
Hi! Glad we’re meeting. We’re a 30 something couple who have been collecting travel experiences together for the last 10+ years. We aim for ‘budget-esque’ travel (with the occasional splurge), but mostly believe in maximizing our money to be able to continue to explore interesting parts of the world through unique budget travel.
We aren’t bucketlisters looking to just check of locations or experiences. We try to travel slower ( when we can) and find locations and experiences that are unique and not over saturated. We want to share these experiences with you too now.

Keeping it Real
The more we travel, the more knowledge ( and WT* moments…) we’ve occurred to share with you all. We got our credit card stuck in an ATM in Wuhan, China and shattered a glass stove top in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. We were stuck in a road strike in Peru for a week. We had to turn around during my dream hike on the W-trek in Patagonia.
We missed the only ferry for the week in Greece. We were also stranded in a rice field on our wedding anniversary in Vietnam because we (I) were too stubbern to overpay the only taxi driver left for the night. Such is life! But we are living it and we hope you follow along for the ride.
So Why Start the Blog Now?
After 10 years of travel ( and onwards), we have pooled the courage to share our culminating expertise (thanks for the push, ‘C’). But why now?
The truth is, I still start EVERY trip planning process on Google combing through blogs for ideas. Travelers learn best from travelers. So we are showing up to contribute and share some quality ideas ( and some wild stories) with you all for unique budget travel!
We’ve traveled together to 50+ countries and have stayed in over 150 Airbnb’s. We’ve also picked up momentum on the credit card miles/point game and have scored some great redemptions . In the last year we have had 5 free nights at an all inclusive hotel in Egypt, Junior Suites in the Crowne Plaza in Kuala Lumpur, and endless rountrip flights from Belize, to to Kenya and beyond. We have a lot of unique budget travel ideas that we are ready to share.
About Us: What’s Our Travel Style?
We travel on a budget, not necessarily for fun ( though I do like crunching numbers as much as the next gal), but because we’ve developed a comprehensive understanding of how to stretch our money. At the end of the day, a budget is a finite number. Whether we spend $100 on 1 night’s accomodation in London or for 4 nights accomodation in Jakarta is up to us. We priotize where we go, when, to maximize our budget so we can sustain our lifestyle. We want YOU to be able to do the same!
We also believe that every location is important to explore- at least once. We’re committed to exploring beyond the typical tourist trail. We want to encourage you to find ways to avoid crowds and see more authentic corners of the world .
How has our Traveling Changed Over the Last Decade?
Over the last decade as we moved from our early 20s to our mid 30s, our style has naturally evolved. We’ve planned international trips to maximize long holiday weekends, short trips around school breaks ( from my former classroom teacher life), have taken time off from work ( shocking in the U.S- I know). We have also worked remotely! Regardless of the season of life we are in, we believe in maximizing our experiences together and not taking time for granted. If we have something we want to do, we try our best to do it!
What’s in it for YOU?
In addition to travel itineraries and destination inspiration, we hope to share with you the travel hacks we’ve accumulated along the way. These hacks have allowed us to keep traveling and hope you can use them to do the same. Travel can be affordable and obtainable and we want to share with you how through our unique budget travel experiences.

So whethers it’s creating a DIY budget safari in Uganda, snorkling in the Indian ocean for $7 USD, or piecing together your own winery tour in the Chilean wine region- we’ve got lots of unique budget travel ideas to share. We so appreciate your consideration in following along.
Cheers,
Vic + Pat
